Global 100 award for TidEl

The TidEl free stream tidal generator system which is incorporated in the UK Pavilion has won a Global 100 Eco-Tech Award at the World Expo2005 in Japan. The ¥1,000,000 prize was awarded in the category of ”Technology to prevent global warming and secure sustainable energy.”

The criteria for the awards were:

1) Extent of contribution to resolution of global environmental problems and realization of a sustainable future.

2) Novelty appropriate to society in the 21st century.

3) Universality that makes the technology useful in different societies.

The Award ceremony will be held on the 1st of September in Japan.
