Sub-Atlantic - Press Release - February 25, 2005

Integrated Sub Services (ISS) - Mohican ROV and TMS System

ISS have purchased 'The first of the Mohicans'. The new Mohican is specially designed for inspection work in high current locations such as the Southern North Sea, where ROVs can be typically limited to one hour diving at slack tides. The Mohican is similar in size to the Mohawk, but generates up to 140 kg of static thrust, made possible by Sub-Atlantic's new SPE180 brushless DC thrusters. Additionally, the Mohican incorporates a new 'Dynamic Vectoring' system which allows the vector angle of the four horizontal thrusters to be remotely adjusted to suit the particular current direction. A 3000 Volt/400 Hz power transmission system allows high power levels to be transmitted down a long main umbilical and only requires a 16.5 mm tether. Mohican is equally suitable for live boating and long tunnel operations due to the small diameter tether. The Mohican can be supplied with a three-function electric manipulator and high pressure water jetting system for cleaning marine structures.
