West of Shetland award for Subsea 7

International underwater contractor, Subsea 7 today announced a contract award from BP for work associated with the Schiehallion Infill and Foinaven Water Injection pipelay projects, off the West of Shetland. Contract value is placed in the region of $12M.

Contract will begin immediately and is scheduled to be complete by 3rd quarter of 2005.

Water depths for the project range from 395 to 455 metres and the scope of work for Schiehallion and Foinaven includes the engineering, procurement, transportation, installation and testing of both a 10” NB production pipeline and a 10” NB water injection pipeline, respectively.

Subsea 7’s pipelay vessel Skandi Navica and a support vessel from the fleet will be utilised for the work. This will make it the second time in three years that the Skandi Navica has performed work in the West of Shetland area, proving its reliability in harsh weather environments.

Vice President for Subsea 7 UK, Bob Gifford, commented: “Subsea 7 was recently awarded work for BP in the West of Shetland and we believe that this award shows both our commitment to the North Sea and BP’s confidence in our subsea capabilities. This award adds to our ever expanding scope of services provided under the Federal Contract we have with BP.”

Ends 21 January 2005
