West of Shetland award
for Subsea 7
International underwater contractor, Subsea 7
today announced a contract award from BP for work
associated with the Schiehallion Infill and Foinaven
Water Injection pipelay projects, off the West
of Shetland. Contract value is placed in the region
of $12M.
Contract will begin immediately and is scheduled
to be complete by 3rd quarter of 2005.
Water depths for the project range from 395 to
455 metres and the scope of work for Schiehallion
and Foinaven includes the engineering, procurement,
transportation, installation and testing of both
a 10” NB production pipeline and a 10”
NB water injection pipeline, respectively.
Subsea 7’s pipelay vessel Skandi Navica
and a support vessel from the fleet will be utilised
for the work. This will make it the second time
in three years that the Skandi Navica has performed
work in the West of Shetland area, proving its
reliability in harsh weather environments.
Vice President for Subsea 7 UK, Bob Gifford,
commented: “Subsea 7 was recently awarded
work for BP in the West of Shetland and we believe
that this award shows both our commitment to the
North Sea and BP’s confidence in our subsea
capabilities. This award adds to our ever expanding
scope of services provided under the Federal Contract
we have with BP.”
