Wick Company Wins Environmental Award

Global subsea contractor, Subsea 7 has been named as winners of an environmental award for their Wester facility at Wick in Caithness, Scotland.

At a ceremony held in Edinburgh, the company was presented with the VIBES of Scotland (Vision in Business for the Environment) award for large company category, Highlands and Islands region. This award recognises the most environmentally positive companies and is a tribute to all the hard work and effort of everyone involved both Wester and Aberdeen bases. Commenting on the winners, Gillian Bruce VIBES chair and judge said, “These companies have been recognised for their commitment to the environment and for demonstrating how implementing environmental initiatives at work can not only benefit the environment but also impact positively on their bottom line”.

Willie Watt, Pipeline Construction Manager at Wick commented, “We were delighted to hear that Subsea 7 had been recognised for its commitment to the environment and I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to both workforce and management for making it possible. This award was all the more satisfying in the knowledge that the local Scottish Environment Protection Agency office had encouraged us to apply as they had witnessed the vast improvements that have been made over recent years”.
