TECHNIP AWARDED A SUBSEA
CONTRACT FOR CAPTAIN ‘C’ PROJECT IN
THE UK NORTH SEA
Paris, June 17, 2005
Technip has been awarded by Chevron an engineering,
procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC)
contract for the development of the Captain ‘C’
oil project in the UK North Sea. The contract,
valued at around £15.5 million (€23
million), requires the Captain ‘C’
facilities (two productions wells) to be tied
back to existing Captain field infrastructure.
Technip’s engineering center in Aberdeen,
Scotland, will undertake the project management,
design and installation of rigid pipelines ranging
from 3” to 10”, as well as an umbilical.
Technip will also install a mini manifold, a tie-in
structure, and complete all associated tie-ins,
testing and pre-commissioning.
All rigid pipelines will be assembled at Technip’s
Spoolbase in Evanton, Scotland, and the umbilical
will be designed and manufactured by Technip subsidiary
Duco, based in Newcastle, UK.
Offshore operations for the development will
commence in the second quarter of 2006 using vessels
from Technip’s fleet. Pipelay vessel Apache
will install all pipelines and will be supported
by the Normand Pioneer, which will fulfill all
trenching and backfilling requirements. The DSV
(Diving Support Vessel) Wellservicer will complete
structure installation works and the Orelia will
undertake all tie-ins, testing and pre-commissioning.
Technip also significantly supported the installation
of the subsea infrastructure and all tie-back
operations for the Captain ‘A’ and
‘B’ developments, which were undertaken
in 1997 and 2002, respectively.
